I will be leaving the exchange in August. This has not been an easy decision.
I joined the PHLX staff in 1999, planning to stay for only six months. 2016 will mark my 32nd year at the exchange – 16 years as a member and 16 years on staff.
Over the years, I’ve made many good friends both on the trading floor and working in the offices of PHLX and NASDAQ. In some ways, it seems like it was only yesterday that I moved to Philadelphia to trade options and start a new career.
But time has indeed marched on and in the past few years, several family members, friends, colleagues and customers have passed or become ill and I’ve come to appreciate that time is the most valuable resource we possess.
I am unsure what the future will bring, but I look forward to entering this new chapter in my life. I plan on spending time pursuing interests I’m passionate about and enjoying more time with family in Florida. My wife, Jackie, and I would also like to travel and visit friends and family domestically and abroad. As many of you know, helping others is one of my passions and I look forward to having more time to pursue this.
It has been a privilege to have worked with you and I am so grateful for the amazing colleagues, customers and competitors that I am honored to call friends. I am thankful to all of you who have supported, encouraged, challenged, and inspired me. I want to give a special thanks to Tom Wittman for his support and trust and for giving me the freedom and opportunity to contribute to the growth of NASDAQ.
As I’ve mentioned, I will be part of NASDAQ until August and I look forward to working with all of you until then. My cell number will remain the same and my personal email is email@example.com. I look forward to staying in touch.
