LEAD STORY ICAP set for futures as its adds PLUS exchange

ICAP has completed its contested takeover of PLUS Stock Exchange, a key strategic deal for the British broker as it gears up to challenge NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Boerse by moving into futures trading.
The broker and PLUS Markets Group said on Thursday that they had completed the acquisition, which will net PLUS shareholders about 640,000 pounds ($1 million).

CBOT gets CFTC green light for longer grain pit trading day
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has approved the Chicago Board of Trade’s plan to extend open-outcry grain trading by 45 minutes a day, according to the agency’s website.

Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ) said Thursday it plans to launch a new London-based interest-rate derivatives platform, making it the latest exchange to attempt to break into the tight-knit European derivatives market.
The U.S.-headquartered exchange operator said it plans to bring competition to the European derivatives market–which is dominated by NYSE Euronext’s (NYX) Liffe and Deutsche Boerse AG’s (DB1.XE, DBOEF, DB9.XE) Eurex–through a new derivatives platform named Nasdaq OMX NLX.

CBOE and C2:
– Equity Options will close at 12:00 p.m.
– Options on ETFs that normally close at 3:00 p.m. will close at 12:00 p.m.
– Options on ETFs that normally close at 3:15 p.m. will close at 12:15 p.m.
– Index options will close at 12:15 p.m.
– Futures that normally close at 3:00 p.m. will close at 12:00 p.m.
– Futures that normally close at 3:15 p.m. will close at 12:15 p.m.
– All stock trading will close at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 4
CBOE, C2, CFE and CBSX will be closed
