JLN interviewed Elizabeth King, president, ESG & chief regulatory officer of Intercontinental Exchange, at the 2022 Options Conference in San Antonio, Texas, about how her panel at the conference went, the subjects they discussed and other related topics.
JLN started by asking her, “Why are equity, diversity and inclusion so important?” This was a subject she said the panel covered very well. The first thing she mentioned is that more diverse companies perform better. Also, young people want to feel included.
We asked King what were some of the other key takeaways from the panel? Another question was about why data is so important to equity, diversity and inclusion.
JLN asked King what ICE is doing to help with equity, diversity and inclusion? She mentioned ICE’s decision to make diversity and inclusion a priority in their workforce. The board at ICE is now 60% women, King said.
She also mentioned the NYSE Board Advisory Council of 20 CEOs, which was created to help expand opportunities for women and underrepresented groups on boards. The Council maintains a database of board-ready candidates for listed companies looking to fill open board seats.
