From Nancy Kaplan:
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As many of you are aware, over the past 10+ years, I have participated in a couple of very special, annual charity events. This year I will participate in my 5th Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk to benefit Susan G Komen for the Cure, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds from this event are invested in breast cancer research, treatment, education, prevention and community programs.
Most of us have been touched by this disease – ourselves, a close friend, a relative. I participate in this event in memory of a remarkable friend, who I miss every day, as well as in support of the many people I know who have suffered from cancer and those currently undergoing treatment. I have been fortunate to walk 60 miles in a variety of cities in addition to Chicago. Two years ago in November, I walked 60 miles in San Diego (mostly in the rain), in an event that raised an incredible $10M to help bring us closer to ending this and other cancers, and this past August I walked 60 rather pleasant miles in the Twin Cities. Who would expect the climate in Minnesota to beat San Diego? We’ll see what we find this year when we walk 60 miles in Arizona.
Please share this incredible experience with me. I would greatly appreciate your support of my efforts in the fight to end breast cancer. I care deeply about this cause and, until we beat this disease, I plan to walk each year to give everyone the opportunity to receive quality care … and hope.
You can make a donation on line at http://www.the3day.org/site/TR/2012/General?px=3253178&pg=personal&fr_id=1760 or write a check to: Susan G Komen for the Cure and write my name on the bottom. I can pick it up from you or send you my address so that you can mail it to me.
Thanks so much for your consideration and support.
